Renowned Liverpool fashion designer, Kirsty Doyle, has initiated a quest to discover the next generation of talented individuals in the fashion industry. Through her newly established educational platform geared towards young people, she has partnered with Randox Grand National to introduce the Young Designer of the Future competition.
The competition is open to individuals aged between eight and 18 who possess a passion for fashion and are eager to craft a look that aligns with the theme “A Day at the Races.” Divided into two categories catering to primary and secondary school age groups, the winners will not only gain access to Kirsty’s studio but also witness their designs brought to life in an outfit showcased at John Lewis and the Style Awards during Ladies Day at Aintree.
Kirsty views this competition as an avenue for young participants to express their individuality and experience the gratification of creating something they can take pride in. The inception of The Kirsty Doyle Club, a project conceived during the pandemic, initially aimed to empower female entrepreneurs but has evolved into a broader initiative. Kirsty aspires to introduce this concept into schools, promoting messages of body positivity, diversity, and cultivating a fresh cohort of aspiring designers.
Since launching The Kirsty Doyle Club x Randox Grand National Young Designer of the Future competition, Kirsty has been actively engaging with schools to introduce students to this exciting opportunity. The competition welcomes all children without any associated costs or prerequisites, allowing submissions either through schools or individually via email. The theme “A Day at the Races” serves as the sole requirement, granting young designers the freedom to submit their race outfit sketches by the deadline of March 29th.
Kirsty, a designer of women’s and children’s wear, operates a design and manufacturing studio in Liverpool. She sells her ready-to-wear collection through her online store and provides a personalized service for brides and bridesmaids at her showroom. As the founder of the acclaimed fashion brands KD Girl and KD Kids, Kirsty is the winner of Sky One’s Project Catwalk, a television show showcased at London Fashion Week.
