Australian streetwear brand HoMie has partnered with ABMT Textiles to establish Australia’s first upcycling factory, according to reports. This collaboration aims to transform deadstock from popular brands into new garments, a venture showcased at Melbourne Fashion Week’s Underground Runway under the newly introduced label, HoMie Reborn.
Post the event, the collection became available both in-store at HoMie’s Fitzroy outlet and online via homie.com.au. The profits generated from the sale of these upcycled garments are dedicated to HoMie Reborn’s advocacy efforts aimed at supporting homeless youth.
Marcus Crook, the creative director at HoMie, expressed enthusiasm about encouraging brands to reuse existing garments.
“This collaboration with ABMT Textiles, a leader in natural fibre performance and fashion textiles, marks an exciting milestone in Australian fashion. The new upcycling factory will not only redefine fashion but also contribute to waste reduction and the circular economy within the country,” he said.
