With an aim to push sustainability goals, US-based luxury brand, Gabriela Hearst unveiled its 100% recycled cotton denim collection. The collection, which was first previewed at the Paris Fashion Week A/W 2025, marks a significant chapter for the brand as it is the first-ever recycled denim line crafted by Gabriela Hearst.
Additionally, Hearst has herself described the collection as a step towards responsible luxury, and as such the collection is lightweight and boasts structured weave. Apart from their latest line being recycled, the collection was also given vibrant tones using a sustainable dyeing process. Their process included wash and hand-treatement, which resulted in the reduced consumption of electricity as compared to the conventional denim dyeing process. The recycled water was also used that was filtered and reused to promote the circular ecosystem.
The resultant palette of the collection was bright with tones like burnt sienna, antelope orange, among others being the main colours. The collection also featured medium-washed indigo tone Uruguayan blue, which was named after Hearst’s homeland. The colours were inspired from the Spanish house paint pigments and they were gifted to the designer by her filmmaker friend, Clara Cullen.
Further, each style was also finished with a custom wood-inlaid brass button that was designed in a way that it can be removed before the washing of the cloth. Other than the sustainable denim, this latest line of Gabriela Hearst also featured responsibly sourced leather and repurposed exotic skin bags to further boost their sustainability initiative.
