Italian luxury fashion brand Gabriela Hearst has launched its first ever eco-conscious range of sneakers named “Ohio”. These sustainable sneakers are made from 30 per cent recycled materials, highlighting the brand’s efforts towards addressing the growing climate crisis issues.
The Ohio sneakers were first unveiled during Gabriela Hearst’s spring/summer 2025 show, showcasing the brand’s commitment to quality and craftsmanship while minimizing its ecological footprint.
The sneakers are manufactured in Italy and the key features include soles made from 30 percent recycled rubber, and stitching made from 30 percent Global Recycled Standard-certified recycled polyester. Moreover, the sole is assembled using water-based glue, reducing chemical use and eliminating polyurethane.
Gabriela Hearst utilised 100 percent leather from a Leather Working Group-certified tannery for the sneaker’s upper, laces, and lining. The leather laces, which the manufacturer emphasises as a “signature textural detail” for the slip-on form, are a noteworthy design element. Additionally, an inside elastic ribbon composed completely of natural rubber and recyclable polyester is included with the sneaker.
