KM Knitwear (Jeyavishnu Tex Processors) Tirupur was recently awarded by the Government of Tamil Nadu for better environmental initiatives – “Green Award 2018.”
What is noteworthy is that it has surpassed nearly 40 companies from different industries to grab this prestigious award – the first for any apparel manufacturer.
The award was given to the company for its state-of-the-art Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) that has a capacity of 22 lakh litres per day.
K. Palaniswami, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, handedover the award to K.M. Subramanian, MD, KM Knitwear and his son Vishnu Prabhu, JMD of the company, in an event.
Subramanian told Apparel Resources, “It is a matter of pride for us and the award has motivated us to be more responsible towards the environment. I feel that more entrepreneurs of our hub Tirupur will feel motivated to work towards sustainability.”
He further claimed that ETP being used by the company is number one in Tirupur and its maintenance is also done in a proper way.

It is pertinent to mention here that Tamil Nadu is struggling on the water issue and Chennai, the state capital and one of the major cities of India, is facing huge water crisis. In this scenario, water saving by the state entrepreneurs is the need of the hour as well as a big support to the state. Tamil Nadu is one of the leading textile and apparel hubs with production clusters like Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode and Salem.
The company, which has the distinction of working with some of the top brands like Primark, BBB and Cubus, produces 1 million pieces per month.
