At a time when the garment workers in Bangladesh are braving many odds, the country’s Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE) has come forward to help the workers address their medical emergencies.
With 11 doctors available on call from 10 AM to 2PM daily, the DIFE has launched a telemedicine service for the workers.
This DIFE has done this to help prevent the spread of the dreaded coronavirus amongst the garment workers.
The workers can reportedly approach the physicians over phone to share their issues and even get prescription through SMS, in case they fear that they have been infected by COVID-19 or show any symptoms of the same.
It may be mentioned here that earlier in a video conference of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with concerned officials, the Police Super of Gazipur reportedly maintained that there were no coronavirus patients in the district before garment makers made their way back from their villages during the shutdown.
However, now with the opening of the telemedicine services, garment workers will get an opportunity to consult doctors immediately, and take necessary action, at the earliest.
