In a notable environmental milestone, DBL Group, one of Bangladesh’s leading readymade garment exporters, announced a reduction of 3,095 tonnes of CO₂ emissions in its cotton dyeing operations during 2024. This achievement highlights the company’s ongoing dedication to environmental sustainability and responsible production practices.
The reduction aligns with the company’s efforts to advance UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. It also builds upon the recognition received by M. A. Jabbar, Managing Director of DBL Group, who was honored with the UN Global Compact SDG Pioneer Award in Circular Economy in 2023. The award acknowledged DBL Group’s innovative strategies and leadership in integrating circular economy principles within its operations.
Beyond this recent development, DBL Group has implemented a number of sustainability measures aimed at improving resource efficiency and reducing environmental impact. The CO₂ savings achieved in cotton dyeing highlight the company’s efforts to enhance operational efficiency and limit its ecological footprint.
“At DBL Group, sustainability is at the core of our operations,” said a company spokesperson. “Our goal is to embed responsible practices into every aspect of our business, contributing to global efforts to combat climate change and foster a more sustainable textile industry.”
With this latest achievement, DBL Group reaffirms its pledge to lead in sustainable manufacturing, aiming to create an environmentally responsible and economically viable textile sector both in Bangladesh and worldwide.
