The Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) and the global business association Amfori convened an introductory meeting on Thursday at BKMEA’s Dhaka office to explore new avenues for collaboration and to promote transparency within Bangladesh’s thriving Ready-Made Garment (RMG) industry.
The session was led by BKMEA Executive President Fazlee Shamim Ehsan, who highlighted the increasing concern over audit fatigue faced by RMG suppliers. He emphasised the importance of streamlining compliance procedures, reducing redundant audits, and adopting collaborative approaches to enhance sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) performance throughout the supply chain.
Minhazul Hoque, Director of BKMEA, also participated in the discussions, contributing insights on strategic initiatives to bolster sector resilience.
Representing Amfori were Johan Stellansson, Head of Business Development & Network, and Katja Schulze, Business Development Manager. They shared Amfori’s global vision and ongoing initiatives aimed at supporting RMG suppliers in Bangladesh, focusing on responsible sourcing, transparency, and sustainable growth.
Both organizations expressed optimism about deepening their partnership to strengthen supply chain resilience, enhance compliance capacity, and boost international buyer confidence in Bangladesh’s RMG sector, signaling a positive step toward a more sustainable and transparent industry.
