
Bangladesh’s apex garment makers’ body- The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGMEA) has recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Switzerland-based international organization, the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), aimed at improving the health status of the Bangladesh’s apparel workers.
This is as per reports, which maintained BGMEA President Faruque Hassan and GAIN Country Director Dr Rudaba Khondker in the presence of BGMEA Joint Secretary Mohammad Monower Hossain, GAIN’s Drivers of Food Systems Change portfolio lead Moniruzzaman Bipul, GAIN Project Manager GM Reza Sumon, among others, signed the MoU at Dhaka’s BGMEA office, on behalf of their respective sides.
A press release issued in this direction has maintained as per the deal, there will be collaboration to create an enabling environment for ensuring proper nutrition of the apparel workers in the future even as the two sides will reportedly provide technical guidance to strengthen the institutional capacity of the National WFN Alliance for scaling up nutrition activities for workers’ well-being.
