
During a meeting with Tolga Ilter, Chairman of Orkim Chemicals, at the BGMEA office in Uttara in Dhaka, BGMEA President Faruque Hassan emphasised Bangladesh apparel industry’s growing focus on sustainable manufacturing.
The president of the country’s apex garment makers’ body mentioned that apparel factories in Bangladesh are actively working to embrace sustainability in their production processes and minimize environmental impacts.
The meeting also included discussions on shared interests, the current status of the garment industry in Bangladesh, its challenges and prospects, the global apparel market, and emerging trends.
Faruque Hassan highlighted Bangladesh’s sustainability efforts and expressed interest in Orkim’s advanced chemicals, which have the potential to enhance productivity, reduce dyeing time, and minimize environmental effects.
The President of BGMEA also urged Orkim Chemicals, a prominent Turkish firm that supplies chemicals to the textile and apparel industry, to encourage their customers, including potential buyers who have not yet purchased garments from Bangladesh, to source their clothing from the country.
