Bangladesh has reached a significant achievement in sustainable manufacturing, with the number of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-certified garment factories rising to 233. The latest addition, Consist Apparels, recently announced its platinum certification, marking a notable milestone in the country’s commitment to green practices.
According to the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), among the 233 certified factories, 93 have received platinum ratings, while 126 hold gold ratings. This impressive growth highlights Bangladesh’s dedication to sustainable development within the garment industry.
LEED certification, which is endorsed by the US Green Building Council (USGBC), is a globally recognised standard that promotes environmentally responsible building design, construction, and operation. The ongoing efforts to enhance sustainability in Bangladesh’s garment sector underscore the nation’s leadership in eco-friendly manufacturing practices.
