Syed Ershad Ahmed, president of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), has urged Bangladesh’s diplomatic missions abroad to aggressively promote their country as a top investment destination. He made these comments in the capital at a meeting with Foreign Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain.
Ahmed emphasised during the conversation how important it is to properly promote Bangladesh in order to draw in foreign direct investment (FDI). In order to attract potential foreign investors, he emphasised the importance of creating a transparent and predictable legal and regulatory framework as well as improving the ease of doing business for current US investors.
The AmCham delegation also emphasised the significance of streamlining the visa application process internationally, seeing this as essential to bolstering global company operations.
Foreign Advisor Hossain responded by assuring that the government is diligently thinking through these issues. He underscored his dedication to promoting cooperation in order to supply the required backing for these endeavours.
Along with several research reports on trade and business in Bangladesh, Ahmed also presented AmCham Recommendations: The Way Forward. These presentations demonstrated AmCham’s commitment to fostering strong relationships with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and promoting laws that improve trade and investment opportunities in Bangladesh.
Speaking with the media, Ahmed voiced hope for further U.S.-Bangladesh cooperation in the near future and said he expected more U.S. investments as Bangladesh’s business climate improved.
