Flagship brand of Inditex group, Zara, has announced a long-term design partnership with British fashion designer Samuel Ross. The company also revealed that this isn’t a one-time project, but rather an ongoing collaboration, described by Zara as a “multi-part design dialogue.”
The first offering from this partnership is SR_A (Samuel Ross Atelier), a menswear capsule collection. Before its global release through Zara’s network, the collection will be showcased in curated installations in Paris and New York.
SR_A features outerwear made from naturally finished fabrics with uniquely designed hoods, accessories like faux fur trapper hats and hand-painted sandals with Japanese shiso stitching, and new loafer styles. Bags are crafted from overdyed cotton with velcro closures.
In addition to SR_A, Ross’ studio will produce an Atelier line. This premium line will be released twice a year in limited quantities at higher price points and will feature designs by UK artisans, according to the Financial Times.
Samuel Ross, a highly influential contemporary designer and artist known for his work with brands like Nike, Hublot, and Apple, and as the first design assistant to the late Virgil Abloh, brings significant creative expertise to the collaboration. Ross founded his brand A-Cold-Wall in 2014, which was later sold. He currently heads the multidisciplinary Samuel Ross Atelier, focusing on art, furniture, industrial design, and clothing.
