To launch its “Torlowei is Art” SS24 collection, West African luxury apparel and lingerie brand Torlowei set up shop in a pop-up at Knightsbridge’s Harrods department store.
Located on the store’s first floor lingerie and loungewear section, the area embodies the brand’s “colour, craftsmanship, creativity, and comfort,” as described by founder and creative director Patience Torlowei.
The best-selling Okene shawls, classic silk satin with hand-embroidered French leavers’ lace Tokoni kaftans, camisoles, and kimonos, and Jos silk cushioned houserobes—co-created and co-designed with her daughter, Mojisola Adegbile—are among the pieces from the SS24 collection. Apart from the pop-up shop, which is scheduled to remain open until March 15th, Torlowei is organising a number of private events for select guests and media that will provide a platform for close encounters and an understanding of the company’s values and working methods.
Torlowei said of the launch, “We want to use this pop-up to showcase the craftsmanship behind our pieces handcrafted by our skilled artisans in Africa — Nigeria and Morocco.”
Mojisola Adegbile, Torlowei’s CEO, added, “The collection is bolder and fresher than ever. We’ve kept our classic silhouettes but added vibrant new colours. Each piece is a handcrafted work of art so shoppers can expect a curated assortment of womenswear & lingerie, all designed to create versatile looks that can be enhanced by a range of elegant and practical accessories.”
Lagos, Nigeria is home to the comprehensive fashion house Torlowei. The brand originated from Patience Please Nigeria Ltd., the first licenced lingerie maker in Nigeria, and is the brainchild of Patience Torlowei, the company’s founder and creative director.
