The minimalist, barefoot-inspired footwear company Vivobarefoot has started a new initiative called ReVivo, which involves collecting discarded sneakers from any brand for recycling. The program is now being expanded to the US and Europe.
The new program, which aims to encourage consumers to use their shoes for longer periods of time and become more conscious of their consumption patterns, gives customers a 20 per cent discount on a new pair of Vivobarefoot shoes when they recycle their old shoes of any brand. The new program, which is accessible in the US, UK, and Europe, expands on ReVivo’s existing platform, which was introduced in the UK in 2020 in collaboration with The Boot Repair Company.
Customers can send in their old or used Vivobarefoot shoes to be resoled, repaired, or restitched so they can continue using them through the brand’s ReVivo platform. Customers can also donate their used Vivobarefoot shoes that would otherwise end up in a landfill to have them repaired and resold on the ReVivo platform for up to 50 per cent less than they originally cost. Recycled footwear is footwear that is too worn or irreparable.
To increase awareness of the significance of transitioning to a circular economy, Vivobarefoot is now accepting trainers from any brand through its new Take Back program. More than 170,000 pairs of Vivobarefoot shoes have been restored by ReVivo since 2020. A record 62,300 pairs of footwear were reissued by the brand in the fiscal year 2023–2024, up from 41,300 pairs the year before. Additionally, Vivobarefoot revealed that its year-over-year growth in the UK increased by 20 per cent as a result of customers returning their Vivos shoes for repair.
Customers in the US, UK, and Europe may now access the new Take Back initiative on the Vivobarefoot Revivo program online at ReVivo.com, with plans to expand the platform soon.
