Vedant Fashions Ltd., the company behind Manyavar, Mohey, Mebaz, Manthan and Twamev, has appointed Aman Kumar Gupta as its new Chief Retail Officer, marking a strategic leadership move for the ethnic-wear giant. Gupta returns to India following an extensive global retail career spanning more than two decades across India, Canada, South Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.
Gupta spent over 12 years with Levi Strauss & Co., taking on mandates across operations, merchandising and P&L management. Most recently, he served as Director – DTC, Canada, where he oversaw the country’s full retail and e-commerce portfolio, managing owned stores, franchise networks and partner-led formats end-to-end. Prior to that, he was Director – Retail Merchandising for South Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, shaping merchandising strategy for the Levi’s and Denizen businesses across varied consumer segments and retail landscapes. Earlier, as Director – Retail, India, he headed Levi’s exclusive store network nationwide, driving sales, operations, retail excellence, training, store development and franchise performance.
The timing of Gupta’s appointment aligns with a period of steady but moderate growth for Vedant Fashions. Revenue from operations reached Rs. 1,437.2 crore (US $ 162 million), reflecting a 1.4% increase over FY24, while net profit rose to Rs. 388.47 crore (US $ 43.82 million). As of June 2025, the company’s Exclusive Brand Outlet (EBO) network comprised 684 stores across 256 cities, including 14 international locations.
Gupta’s arrival is likely to influence several pillars of Vedant’s growth strategy. His expertise in P&L management and operational optimisation is expected to support enhancements across the brand’s extensive store portfolio, including improvements in franchise performance and per-store productivity. His omnichannel experience—developed through leading Canada’s integrated online–offline operations for Levi’s—positions him to strengthen Vedant’s digital–physical retail synergy, a critical factor in celebration-wear categories where consumer journeys often begin online and conclude in-store.
Gupta is also anticipated to play a key role in accelerating Vedant’s international expansion across regions such as the UAE, Canada, the UK and other markets where Indian ethnic wear is seeing rising mainstream acceptance. His merchandising background is expected to support more targeted collection planning across Manyavar, Mohey, Twamev and the company’s wider portfolio, aligning assortments with regional demand patterns, occasion-driven cycles and shifting fashion preferences.
