Sutlej Textiles and Industries Limited has enhanced its sustainability measurement and reporting capabilities through the implementation of advanced Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) systems and Digital Product Passports (DPPs), reinforcing its shift towards data-driven environmental management.
The textile manufacturer has introduced Digital Product Passports for selected products, consolidating key information such as material composition, manufacturing location, environmental impact metrics and sustainability credentials into a transparent, accessible digital format. The initiative is designed to improve traceability and provide verified sustainability data to customers and other stakeholders.
To develop and deploy the framework, Sutlej partnered with GreenStitch, a sustainability intelligence platform specialising in product-level environmental measurement and reporting. The collaboration enabled the company to operationalise sustainability data across its value chain through structured impact measurement tools.
Under Phase 1 of the implementation, Sutlej has established a centralised and standardised sustainability data system supporting product-level LCAs and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) accounting across selected yarn and fabric categories. The system also facilitates monthly environmental impact tracking, with the findings intended to guide product improvement and footprint reduction strategies.
By digitising data collection, validation and impact calculation processes, the company has improved data accuracy and consistency, streamlined reporting workflows and strengthened its preparedness for buyer disclosures, third-party audits and evolving regulatory requirements. Product-level impact data now supports customer-specific carbon disclosures and substantiates sustainability claims in line with market expectations.
The enhanced visibility into operational impact hotspots is enabling Sutlej’s sustainability and operations teams to prioritise targeted emission reduction initiatives and make informed product and process decisions.
Ashish Kumar, Chief Executive Officer and Whole-time Director of Sutlej Textiles and Industries Limited, stated that sustainability had become a strategic enabler for the company, essential to long-term competitiveness, resilience and value creation. He said the organisation was embedding a robust, data-led framework to translate sustainability ambitions into measurable outcomes and innovation. He added that GreenStitch was serving as a key partner by delivering credible methodologies and digital tools, and that AI-powered LCA, GHG accounting and Digital Product Passports were providing clear visibility into product-level environmental footprints.
Narendra Makwana, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of GreenStitch, said Sutlej was among the companies leading efforts to operationalise sustainability at scale, with a focus on translating data into business-relevant action. He observed that the adoption of product-level LCA and structured sustainability measurement reflected leadership in progressing from compliance-driven reporting to value creation.
