Swiss performance footwear and apparel brand On has elected Helena Helmersson, former CEO of H&M Group, to its Board of Directors as an independent director. She will also be a member of the company’s Nomination and Compensation Committee, underscoring On’s emphasis on governance and long-term strategic development.
Helmersson brings nearly 30 years of experience in global fashion retail to On’s boardroom. Most recently, she led H&M Group as chief executive from 2020 to 2024, guiding the Swedish retail giant through a period of intense digital transformation and supply chain recalibration. Prior to that, she held key executive roles at H&M, including chief operating officer, global head of production, and head of sustainability—roles that cemented her reputation for operational rigour and values-driven leadership.
Helmersson said in a statement that she is thrilled and proud to be joining On’s Board of Directors. She added that On’s combination of innovation, performance, and purpose is a truly compelling proposition, and she is eager to work with the Board and leadership team as the company continues to grow internationally.
On co-founder and executive co-chairman David Allemann welcomed the appointment, citing Helmersson’s wide range of retail operations and sustainability experience. He said that her exceptional record and mission-driven leadership will be very important as On drives its ambition to become the world’s leading premium sportswear brand, and Helena’s vision will be essential in guiding the company towards its next phase of growth.
The company also revealed the imminent exit of Kenneth Fox, a veteran board member who is to vacate his position after On’s 2025 Annual General Shareholders’ Meeting. Fox, who has been on the board for seven years, has been instrumental in the strategic development of the company, including its historic IPO in 2021.
