Fresh off leading Team USA to Olympic gold, NBA star Steph Curry is doubling down on expanding his product line with Under Armour.
“I’m deeply involved in the design and evolution of the line, and I’m excited that it’s something that can continue even after my playing days are over,” Curry said at the Bloomberg Power Players event in New York.
Curry, who recently signed a one-year, US $ 62.6 million contract extension with the Golden State Warriors, is also growing his sportswear brand with Under Armour. His product line ranges from shoes to apparel, and last year, he extended his contract with the company. As part of that deal, he was named president of the Curry Brand and received US $ 75 million in stock as part of his compensation, according to regulatory filings.
Under Armour, which has faced challenges in recent years, brought back founder Kevin Plank as CEO earlier this year to help steer the company. “New headquarters don’t sell shirts and shoes,” said Plank. “That takes people, strategy, and teamwork. Culture is where I’m really focused.”
