Laura Willensky has been named the new CEO of Rowing Blazers. As the brand’s leader, Willensky brings a wealth of knowledge from her prior positions at Madewell and J Crew.
In order to continue concentrating on the brand’s design and creative direction, founder Jack Carlson will continue to serve in that role. This leadership transition occurs in the wake of Burch Creative Capital’s earlier this year acquisition of Rowing Blazers.
Laura Willensky has held prominent leadership roles at a number of well-known American fashion and lifestyle companies, including as Chief Commercial Officer at Away, Brand President of Talbots, and Executive Vice President at J Crew and Victoria’s Secret Beauty.
Chris Burch, founder of Burch Creative Capital said the new CEO’s “track record in apparel and deep experience as a merchant will have an incredible impact on our customers, our community and our business”.
Burch Creative Capital, founded by Chris Burch (also co-founder of Tory Burch), includes brands like Staud, Solid & Striped, Danielle Guizio, and BaubleBar. Willensky is the company’s second major hire since acquiring Rowing Blazers, following the appointment of Grant Simm, formerly CFO at Aimé Leon Dore, as CFO.
