Retailers and mall developers have said that there has been a 15-20 per cent growth in end-of-season sales (EOSS), starting at the end of December and continuing till the first week of February.
There has also been an increase in footfalls at retail outlets as well as malls. January was the month when sales picked up despite there being a dampening period in December due to the late arrival of winter.
“The sale season started slightly late in December than the previous end-of-season sale because the onset of winter was delayed by a few weeks. In January we saw terrific demand and now we are seeing strong double-digit growth,” said Lifestyle Retail chain CEO Devarajan Iyer.
Cantabil Retail also saw a double-digit increase in sales and footfall as compared to the year before. “We have received a phenomenal response from our consumers across the country. We have witnessed an increase of 17 per cent in sales and 14 per cent in footfalls than we did last year,” said Deepak Bansal, Director at Cantabil Retail India.
Managing Director and CEO of Lacoste India, reported that they saw an increase of 15-20 per cent in sales as opposed to last year.

Select CityWalk in Delhi has also witnessed sales going up and an increase in footfall as a result of the demand for winterwear going up. “This end-of-season sale is going well and we have witnessed strong demand for winterwear at our mall,” said Yogeshwar Sharma, CEO of Select Citywalk.
