In the recent years, advancements in wrinkle-resistant finishes have become a standard for most procedures of casual trousers, as today’s consumers do not want to waste time in ironing and opt for clothing that requires minimal care. Bangalore based Resil Chemicals, provider of silicones and total finishing solutions for the textile industry has developed a wrinkle recovery finish ‘Resil LFR’, a formaldehyde based resin for garments. It has an excellent DP rating system for improving crease recovery angles thereby giving the surface smooth handle and lubricating properties.
Cotton fabrics, however, have a tendency to wrinkle badly and have smooth drying properties after laundering. Under distortion and moist conditions, the hydrogen bonds that hold the cellulose chains together are ruptured. This causes the hydrogen bonds to re-form. The rupture and re-formation of hydrogen bonds cause wrinkle problems on cotton or cotton-blend fabrics.
“Most of the wrinkle-free solutions available in the market cause great strength loss, which is very low in our solutions depending on the type of the fabric, thus, improving the life of the garments,” says J Gunaseelan, Officer Technical Service, Resil Chemicals.
