Make hay while the Sun shines! Well, it is quite true for this time of the year, since Easter is round the corner and if you are yet to go shopping for clothes and goodies, it’s now or never! With the weather getting balmy by the day, it is absolutely THE time to reinvent their wardrobe collection and gear up for the Spring and Summer Sun. Given that now the trend is for the larger and oversized, Easter revelers would have to rethink on what they want to flaunt this season.
“Easter will be the perfect segue into Spring for both consumers and retailers, who have longed for warmer weather,” says National Retail Federation President and CEO Matthew Shay. “As one of the busiest times of year for several retail sectors and as shelves begin filling with both traditional spring and holiday merchandise, retailers are looking forward to welcoming shoppers with attractive promotions on home goods, garden equipment and traditional Easter items.”
Most shoppers have already done their bit this year, and are also expected to have spent more for Easter this year compared to last year’s Holiday. That, according to certain survey reports.
According to the NRF’s Easter Spending Survey, conducted by Prosper Insights and Analytics, around 45 per cent of the holiday shoppers in America are expected to buy clothing, spending over $2.9 billion on bright-colored apparels for themselves and their families.
According to the survey, an average person celebrating this holiday will spend $140.62, which is a tad bit more than last year’s $137.46. In America, it is expected that the total spending for this season for purchases including clothes, decorations, candy and food, is expected to reach $16.4 billion. Of this, 45 per cent of the holiday shoppers will have spent on clothes, while over 85.7 per cent will buy food for meals or the festivity, spending more than $5.3 billion for the entire holiday season.
And for all those procrastinators, here’s a bit of information — if you haven’t done your shopping yet, do it NOW. Many shopping malls and plazas, including Kohl’s, JCPenney, Nordstrom, Macy’s, Marshalls and Target, are expected to remain closed across the world on Easter Sunday (March 27).
