
The Retailers Association of India (RAI) has released its 52nd edition of the Retail Business Survey, which shows that sales in June 2024 increased by 5 per cent over June 2023 levels.
Speaking about the findings, Kumar Rajagopalan, CEO, Retailers Association of India (RAI), said, “Retailers saw a 5 per cent growth in June 2024 compared to the same period last year, indicating positive consumer spending trends. South India led with a 7 per cent increase, while the QSR sector grew by 8 per cent. End-of-season sales in discretionary items also contributed. With the upcoming festival season and a promising monsoon, we anticipate further improvement in consumer sentiment and retail sales.”
Retail establishments in every region have reported increased sales as of June 2023; South India has experienced the largest increase, at 7 per cent, followed by North and East India at 5 per cent apiece, and West India at 4 per cent.
Apparel and clothing saw a modest 4 per cent growth in June 2024 as compared to June 2023.
