Designer Punit Balana has expanded his eponymous brand’s offering by launching ‘Modern Jaipur’ as a men’s and women’s clothing line inspired by the sport of polo and its importance in his hometown.
The line has launched exclusively at Punit Balana’s Mumbai flagship store and on the label’s direct-to-customer e-commerce store, the brand announced on Facebook. Balana describes Modern Jaipur as, “a tribute to the past, yet embodying the boldness of today’s society,” announced the brand on Facebook. “Whether in the streets of New York or the bustling lanes of Bombay, Modern Jaipur doesn’t just speak to you, it becomes a part of you. In Modern Jaipur, Punit infuses his artistic vision into the essence of Jaipur’s life, blending signature prints with traditional garment techniques.”
Balana’s characteristic colours, ‘Masoom Gulabi’ and ‘Moonga,’ are included in Modern Jaipur, which employs colour to recreate the Pink City. The collection features some fusion-style pieces, like loose, boho blouses, mixed in with classic designs, like men’s long-line jackets and women’s lehengas.
