The renowned German fashion e-tailer Zalando is eyeing the US market!
If media reports are anything to go by, then the e-tailer is looking at exploring and entering the US market through a major secret project Project Kangaroo.
The European fashion giant, reportedly, has been planning the move for months, and the aim is to start on the expansion by the start of next year.
However, the ambitious Project Kangaroo is currently said to be halted.
Reportedly, the fashion bigwig has been planning to invest a three-digit million sum into the project, with over 100 employees said to be working under a non-disclosure agreement.
Also, the project is,as per media reports, led by Chief Business and Product Officer Jim Freeman– an American and a former Amazon employee.
Zalando has neither confirmed nor denied the expansion report.
A Zalando spokeswoman told media “We are continuously looking for opportunities to improve our offer, including possible new categories and regions.”
She added that the e-tailer believes there will also be opportunities to grow beyond the European continent in this context.
Founded in 2008, Berlin-based Zalando also has offices (tech hubs) in Dublin, Ireland; Dortmund, Germany and Helsinki, Finland.
