Parisian department store BHV is expanding its presence in the second-hand fashion market. Initially, BHV experimented with retail corners and has now extended its partnership with the specialist start-up Paradigme. This collaboration includes opening two pop-up sections for second-hand women’s clothing at its branches on rue de Rivoli, Paris, and at the Parly 2 shopping mall near Versailles. BHV has also recently launched a click-and-collect fashion resale option on its e-shop.
The Parly 2 second-hand fashion section opened on 12th June and will remain open until 11th August. The rue de Rivoli section opened on 26th June and will stay open until 21st July. These sections feature second-hand fashion items collected by Paradigme, primarily from premium brands. Customers at both BHV branches can also bring in clothes they no longer use for resale. Paradigme collaborates with around one hundred fashion brands, including Sézane, Ganni, Maison 123, Levi’s, and Make My Lemonade. Vendor customers are compensated with BHV vouchers.
The BHV e-shop has recently introduced a system for collecting second-hand clothes. Similar to the in-store system, customers can send their pre-owned clothes to BHV free of charge and receive a gift card after the items are inspected.
Paradigme, founded in 2022, works with fashion brands like La Fée Maraboutée and Petite Mendigote. In April, it raised € 1.2 million in a funding round involving several investors, including ShowroomPrivé, Hartwood, and Vanessa Proust.
In November 2023, BHV was officially sold by the Galeries Lafayette group to the SGM group, a French property developer specializing in revitalizing commercial premises in town centers.
