Europe’s leading online fashion retailer Zalando is planning expansion in Ireland and Czech Republic markets.
Notably, the digital expansion of the retailer will be the first since 2013 when it was launched in Luxembourg.
Zalando has clearly mentioned that Ireland and Czech Republic will be served by their existing warehouses. However, the control over price bracket remains under the brands.
Additionally, the company has also announced to launch an English website for its customers in Germany and an Italian version in Switzerland where people speak three languages: French, German and Italian.
Also, the retailer will also introduce Monki brand by H&M on its marketplace and will be available from August this year. It will be the third H&M brand on their online platform, as they (Zalando) are already offering Cheap Monday and Weekday products.
Carsten Keller, Zalando’s Managing Director of Partner Solutions is expecting this initiative (to add brands) to augment profitability and enhance relationships with brands. “We give full control to the brands who are selling their products on our platform, as they assortment and how they want to represent their brand. We offer a completely different environment as compared to e-retailers like eBay or Amazon,” Carsten was quoted by Reuters.
Markedly, Zalando retails around 1,500 brands in 15 countries with the majority being in Western Europe.
It is pertinent to mention here that though the US-based e-commerce giant Amazon Inc. is one of the largest e-retailers in the world but in Europe, it is the second best to Zalando which has a wider reach and is more popular.
