Nike was the UK’s most prominent e-commerce brand in 2023, featuring in a list of the top five most searched online brands, according to the latest annual report on the e-commerce sector by Salience.
The report evaluated 11 important performance factors, including year-on-year visibility, search volume trends, and brand recognition for e-commerce firms to find the names “dominating the industry”.
Nike, with more than 1.8 million brand searches per month, was the “most prominent” brand. Additionally, the US sportswear giant leads the market in terms of brand recognition in the e-commerce industry with an owned social media score of 394,850.
Despite having 3.35 million brand searches, ASOS, the online fashion retailer, only managed to obtain a fifth-place rating due to its owned social media score of 25,802.
According to the report, there has been a 28 per cent decline in the industry’s overall organic growth in relation to organic visibility, “demonstrating a drop in demand for e-commerce brands.”
Salience, meanwhile, ranked brand online visibility spikes according to visibility growth levels. Ann Summers was in first place with a notable 1,258 per cent growth in sales of underwear.
John Lewis & Partners, on the other hand, saw a 42 per cent reduction, and M&S and Next were among the top five “losers” due to their largest traffic score declines.
