Global sportswear major Nike has announced plans to revamp its digital operations in India, with beauty and fashion retailer Nykaa set to assume responsibility for Nike.com operations in the country from February 2026. The move marks Nike’s latest effort to strengthen and streamline its presence in the Indian market.
Nike said the transition is intended to enhance the online shopping experience for Indian consumers by offering faster deliveries, easier returns and a more curated product assortment.
Under the new arrangement, customers in India will receive free shipping on all orders, along with free exchanges on the same product purchased. The company also plans to introduce faster delivery timelines, with two-day delivery in metro cities and up to four days in other regions.
The refreshed online store will continue to offer Nike’s range of sports footwear, performance apparel and selected collections tailored for Indian consumers. However, some services will be discontinued. Nike confirmed that Nike By You customisation and SNKRS Web will no longer be available in India.
Nike Member logins on Nike.com and the Nike App will also cease to function after the transition. Users will continue to have access to the Nike Training Club and Nike Running Club apps, as login credentials for these platforms will remain unchanged. The company said it is revising its Terms of Use, Terms of Sale and Privacy Policy to reflect the changes, with updated policies to be published on the website after the relaunch.
Nike entered the Indian market in 1995 through an exclusive licensing agreement with SSIPL Retail, then known as Sierra Industrial Enterprise, and launched physical stores in 1998. Around 2016 and 2017, the company reduced its footprint in India by closing approximately 35 per cent of its outlets and scaling down its partner network as part of a global restructuring, while continuing select e-commerce operations.
Between 2006 and 2020, Nike served as the official kit sponsor for the Indian men’s cricket team, with the partnership renewed in 2011 and 2016, helping to sustain brand visibility in the country. Globally, Nike remains one of the leading sportswear companies, with partnerships across football, basketball, athletics and several other sports.
