Nike has pushed back the US launch of its women’s activewear line with Kim Kardashian’s shapewear line, Skims. The companies announced the collaboration in February 2025, which was to introduce a new brand to be known as NikeSkims featuring women’s training apparel, footwear, and accessories.
A Nike spokesperson confirmed the delay, stating that both brands are collaborating to refine the product before it launches. The delay, first reported by Bloomberg, comes at a time of significant anticipation from consumers and the industry.
The official launch of the brand was set to begin in spring 2025 in stores and online before a broader roll-out in 2026. The effort to create a Nike women’s activewear brand represents a significant corporate move under the leadership of new chief executive officer Elliott Hill, who has emphasized strong performance products as the company’s focus as it enters a competitive time when previously bombproof brands like On and Hoka are eating into Nike’s formerly unimpeachable brand’s share of wallet in performance athletics.
Skims, which was launched a mere four years ago in 2019, has experienced explosive growth in the premium shapewear and loungewear market. The collaboration is seen as a first step for Nike to gain back market share in the women’s space, which has been overtaken by competitors such as Lululemon and Athleta.
While no new launch date was provided, the magnitude of the collaboration and reputations of the two brands have generated huge interest in the marketplace from investors, analysts and consumers.
