Nike has appointed Ashwin Kumar as its Brand Lead for India, marking his return to the company for a second stint.
Kumar previously spent nearly a decade with Nike, during which he held key communications and marketing roles across India and Southeast Asia. His reappointment signals a renewed phase in his association with the global sportswear company.
In a statement shared via LinkedIn, Kumar reflected that Nike had been the place where he truly learned what it meant to build a brand embedded in culture. He noted that his subsequent professional journey had taken him across multiple regions, where he worked with a range of founders and brands that he was proud to have helped shape. He added that these experiences had made his return to Nike particularly meaningful and expressed his enthusiasm for beginning a new chapter with the company in India.
Prior to rejoining Nike, Kumar was working independently as a strategic marketing and brand consultant, collaborating with organisations across sectors including retail, tourism and the non-profit space.
Earlier in his career, he served as Vice President – Brand, PR and Influencer Marketing at 82°E. He also held the position of Communications Manager for the Asia-Pacific region at Novelship, further strengthening his experience in brand development and regional communications.
