
Neville Noronha, the MD and CEO of retail chain DMart, will leave his role in January 2026, the parent company of DMart, Avenue Supermarts, said in an exchange filing. According to the petition, Noronha, who began working at DMart in 2004, decided not to renew his contract after more than 20 years of employment.
Noronha said that he deeply appreciated the opportunity that he got to serve in the business and is grateful to everyone in the early leadership team.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of Avenue Supermart, C.B. Bhave appreciated Noronha and said that he was a leader who saw the big picture, yet had an eye for detail and made sure that growth and profits were not the end in themselves but the by-products of efficiency, fairness and customer value.
The Board has designated Anshul Asawa as the CEO Designate to succeed Noronha, effective 15th March 2025. Beginning 1st February 2026, Asawa, a graduate of IIT Roorkee and IIM Lucknow, would take full responsibility as MD and CEO of Avenue Supermarts. After 30 years with Unilever, he will join DMart. He currently holds the positions of general manager for the home care division in Greater Asia and country head for Unilever in Thailand.
