A multimillion-pound lawsuit has been filed against M&S following the stealing of customer data during a cyberattack. Last week, the fashion behemoth acknowledged that hackers had taken customer information, including contact information, dates of birth, and past online orders.
Customers were reassured, meanwhile, that there was no proof that the data had been shared and that the stolen material did not contain account passwords, credit card numbers, or payment information.
Thompsons Solicitors is now bringing a class action lawsuit against M&S for failing to protect customers’ data, putting them at risk of frauds.
The news comes as Stuart Machin, the CEO of M&S, is expected to lose up to US $ 1.47 million in salary as a result of the cyberattack.
M&S’s share price has dropped 14 per cent as a result of the ongoing cyberattack, which was revealed on 22nd April. This represents a loss of roughly US $ 1.11 million from Machin’s performance share plan and US $ 312,000 from a deferred bonus, both of which are scheduled to pay out in July.
