In a significant fashion industry development, Italian luxury brand Moschino has appointed Adrian Appiolaza as its new Creative Director.
He succeeds Davide Renne, who suddenly passed away at the age of 46 in November, just days after he stepped into the role of Creative Director for Moschino. Appiolaza, who recently relocated from Paris to Milan, is set to debut his first collection under his direction this February.
Massimo Ferretti, Executive Chairman of Aeffe Group, Moschino’s parent company, stated,
“Adrian brings with him a unique experience, creativity, and knowledge of the history of fashion that will be instrumental to write a wonderful new chapter in the adventure of the brand founded by Franco Moschino.”
Appiolaza’s journey in fashion began in his grandmother’s tailoring shop in Buenos Aires. His career took a significant turn when he joined Chloé in 2002 after being noticed by Phoebe Philo. He brings a rich background to Moschino, including tenures at Loewe, Chloé, Louis Vuitton, and Miu Miu.
Appiolaza stated, “Achieving such a goal, going beyond the surface, and doing it with such theatrical lightness, is an extraordinary feat that sparked the imagination of a boy born in 1972 and raised in Buenos Aires who had never travelled before the age of 21.”
