After serving in the position for 15 months, Charlotte Dewhurst, the marketing director for Matalan, departed the fashion store.
Since joining in April of last year, Dewhurst has been in charge of overseeing a group of 70 workers while it undergoes continuous change, according to Drapers.
Dewhurst has worked for retailers such as Reebok, Morrisons, Argos, Nando’s, ClearScore, and Les Mills for 20 years, holding a variety of marketing positions before joining Matalan.
A spokesperson for the retailer confirmed Charlotte Dewhurst’s departure and expressed appreciation for her contributions, stating that the company is grateful for everything she brought to the team and wishes her all the best in her future endeavors.
Her departure coincides with Matalan’s announcement last month of an increase in underlying profitability, with EBITDA rising 6% to US $ 71.7 million for the year ending February 22, driven by rigorous cost control and an improved gross margin.
However, sales declined by 9% to US $ 1.26 billion, which the company attributed to a highly competitive market and challenging consumer environment.
As part of a US $ 32 million investment in its store portfolio, Matalan plans to refurbish 30 locations and open 10 new or relocated stores this year.
