Spanish upscale fashion brand recently celebrated its 25th anniversary with a 14,000 square feet flagship store in Lisbon, Portugal. The store is situated on Praça Restauradores, one of the most bustling shopping districts in the Portuguese capital.
Mango invited 250 exclusive guests including industry It girls and major Mango girls Camille Charrière, Joanna Halpin, and Jeanne Damas to commemorate the opening which also marked its 205th store worldwide.
Located in a building that used to previously house the Teatro Edén cinema, the Lisbon shop will host all of the brand’s men’s, women’s and kid’s assortments. The flagship is powered by WiFi and a click and collect system as well as digital dressing rooms where shoppers can request for different sizes and they will be immediately provided with the same by stockers.

Barcelona-based Mango has always had a very active digital presence and recently launched men’s and kids wear collection. The push towards tech-enhanced physical spaces comes organically to the brand, explains Daniel López, VP, Mango adding, “Today, the consumer is touching the brand discretionally in many places: mobile, tablet, Instagram, magazines and stores. What we’re working toward is to provide a consistent experience for the consumer.”
In an era of dwindling brick and mortar retail, the brand is trying to give its shoppers an elevated shopping experience not just through technology but through powerful architecture and interiors. The Lisbon flagship in situated inside an Art Deco building designed by the architects Cassiano Branco and Carlo Florencio Dias in 1931 and features a stunning freestanding staircase that weighs 7,495 tons of steel and is 33 feet high.
Apart from its pre-existing grandeur, the brand also commissioned five modern artists who recreated the flagship’s façade in their own hallmark flair. The artworks will all ornament the store’s interiors. López further added, “Lisbon is going through an outstanding cultural movement and the building is a historic image of the city.”
