Macron, an Italian sportswear giant, has announced its annual financial report which unveils ‘record-high’ sales in 2024 as the turnover for the fiscal year exceeds US $ 253.6 million reflecting a double-digit growth. The company is known for its apparel range in football, rugby, and basketball, and has highlighted the UK’s emergence as a pivotal market, mirroring its strong performance in home country Italy.
Macron reported a consolidated turnover of US $ 253.6 million, marking a 13.7 per cent increase from 2023 (US $ 223.2 million) and a significant 30 per cent rise from 2022 (US $ 192.9 million). This growth was attributed to robust sales in both Italy and the UK, each contributing 21 per cent to the company’s global revenue, alongside consistent growth across its operations in Europe and the US. Additionally, around 80 per cent of Macron’s revenue is derived from sources outside of its native Italy.
In the UK, turnover reached US $ 53.2 million, demonstrating a 10 per cent year-on-year growth. Gianluca Pavanello, Macron’s chief executive, emphasized the strategic importance of the UK market, stating that the UK stood alongside Italy – their home market – as one of the two pillars of Macron’s global business. He attributed the UK’s strong performance to the company’s model of “bespoke, sustainable design paired with deep, long-term partnerships across four major sports.”
Macron operates in the UK through 27 Macron Sports Hubs and sponsors numerous professional clubs across football, rugby, basketball, and cricket, including high-profile teams like Wrexham AFC, Crystal Palace FC, and the Welsh Rugby Union.
The company’s international vision, focusing on a multi-sport and multi-country strategy, further fuelled its success. Key initiatives included the launch of a new US headquarters and distribution centre and partnerships with Lamborghini and Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP.
Looking ahead to 2025, Macron reported a strong first-quarter performance, with a 24.1 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024, despite global economic uncertainties. The business intends to launch Macron Clubhouse, a luxury line of practical everyday wear, to launch its foray into the fashion sportswear market. This initiative aligns with Macron’s “Designed in Bologna” philosophy, emphasizing tailoring, style, and elegance.
Macron is also investing approximately US $ 22.7 million in expanding its Macron Campus in Valsamoggia, Italy, which will increase its headquarters’ size to 100,000 square meters.
Pavanello reaffirmed Macron’s dedication to establishing challenging goals and grabbing new chances while expressing delight in the company’s record turnover and attributed it to the team’s competence. He further added that the team will ‘continue to inspire people to become their own heroes’.
With its 170 Macron Sports Hubs, Macron serves more than 90 professional teams and federations in more than 30 countries in three primary business segments: teamwear, merchandising, and individual.
