LVMH, the French multinational luxury goods conglomerate, has announced the establishment of a brand new executive position looking at craftsmanship and production and the appointment of Ludovic Pauchard as Industrial and Craftsmanship Director. It comes amid huge changes in the global luxury market and their growing concern with production efficiency and the importance of quality and crafting.
Pauchard is an engineer at heart who started with Louis Vuitton in 2003, operating in various senior industrial positions in France and the U.S. His last role was Industrial Director at Louis Vuitton, where he was responsible for all production activities across the more than 30 leather goods workshops and teams of an estimated 10,000 employees.
In addition to his new group position, Pauchard will serve as Executive President of Métiers d’Arts. Métiers d’Arts is LVMH’s division that oversees the network of raw material suppliers and artisanal partners. These two positions aim to reinforce operational excellence and the supply chain across all the brands within LVMH.
Reporting to Stéphane Bianchi, Executive Vice President of LVMH, Pauchard will assume the position on September 1. As noted by LVMH, the mandate includes coordinating the industrial leaders across the group, leading transformation projects, and assisting the company in meeting its addressable targets in ethics, sustainability, and social responsibility.
Pauchard brings more than 20 years of experience with Louis Vuitton, including work in footwear, US manufacturing, and leather goods. Pauchard will be responsible for driving LVMH’s strategy of vertical integration and long-term craftsmanship.
In announcing the new role, LVMH said it is evidence of its ongoing high standards throughout production and preserving artisanship across the luxury portfolio.
