
Shashi Gumma has been named managing director and chief executive officer of SPAR Hypermarket by retail behemoth Landmark Group, the company said in a press release.
“I am very keen and eager to build SPAR into a network that provides great experience to shoppers and creates strong patronage with them,” Gumma said upon being appointed.
Gumma has 25 years of expertise in the retail industry. He has held positions as CEO of More Supermarkets and COO of Metro Wholesale in India, working in both B2C and B2B grocery formats. In his prior jobs, he led a number of projects and initiatives that resulted in revolutionary developments.
As a division of the Landmark Group, SPAR is a retailer of a range of goods, including apparel and footwear. It currently operates over 13,900 stores throughout 48 countries.
