Kering, the renowned French multinational corporation, has been named the most sustainable apparel and accessory firm in the Corporate Knights’ Global 100 Index.
The announcement was made virtually during the World Economic Forum earlier this week.
142 more firms were assessed and all against 24 factors that included resource management and financial management in addition to employee management.
Besides, the companies were evaluated for supplier performance and clean revenue and clean investment as well.
Kering received the honour after it was ranked the highest in environmental performance as well as clean revenue and clean investment – within apparel and accessory category.
What’s notable is that Kering has received this recognition for the fourth successive year.
The company, which owns reputed global brands like Gucci, Balenciaga, Yves Saint Laurent and Bottega Veneta, amongst others, was ranked 7th for the index on the whole. That’s some recognition, especially considering there were over 8,000 firms from across the globe.
Notably, the Corporate Knights’ Global 100 Index is considered a benchmark for corporate sustainability every year, and the Global 100 companies constitute the top 1 per cent in the world on sustainability performance.
