Some trouble for JD Sports and Greaves Sports!
Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) will be probing both the sportswear retailers over the price of replica football kits.
While confirming that it has opened an initial enquiry, CMA said that its investigation team will be looking at suspected violation of competitive laws.
CMA also said that presently it has reasonable grounds to suspect one or more breaches.
The investigation process, reportedly, may take up to 6 months before coming out with a decision.
Meanwhile CMA will also be probing Scottish football club Rangers FC and its erstwhile kit manufacturer Hummel over the price at which Rangers FC-branded football kit was being sold all across the UK.
Though JD Sports hasn’t yet commented on the same, a spokesperson of the retailer said that they will be fully cooperating with CMA.
Greaves is Scotland’s – and one of the UK’s – oldest independent sports retailers, while JD Sports, with several stores in the UK, Europe, the US, Asia and Australia, generates revenue of £4,717.8 million.
