Apparel retail stores, under Japan Chain Stores Association (JCSA), have seen a decent rise in the sales revenues in January ’22 over January ’21.
As per the official statistics released by JCSA, the apparel retail revenues of 11,917 stores associated with JCSA have reached 58,553.32 million yen (US $ 506.82 million), noting 4 per cent yearly growth in January ’22.
However, as compared with December ’21 figures, the revenues declined drastically from 77,399.16 million yen (US $ 676.53 million), which is a 24.30 per cent monthly downfall.
Revenues generated by womenswear products were 14,643.73 million yen (US $ 126.75 million) in January ’22 and increased by 6 per cent on yearly basis, but fell by 12 per cent on monthly note.
The sales of menswear products valued 11,555.91 million yen (US $ 100 million) in the first month of 2022 and witnessed a decline of 16 per cent from what it valued in December ’21; however, there was around 11 per cent yearly growth in January ’22 over January ’21.
All other types of clothing, including kidswear, remained on standstill position with just a meagre increase of 0.70 per cent in January ’22 over January ’21 to clock 32,353.52 million yen (US $ 280 million).
