Luxury fashion house Gucci has elected Alessio Vannetti as Chief Brand Officer, who will take the reigns from Susan Chokachi after her 25 years at the brand.
Vannetti, who oversaw global communications for Gucci from 2015 to 2019, has rejoined the company after working for rival Valentino. He is now serving in the capacity of the company’s Executive Vice President and Chief Brand Officer, which is owned by Kering.
Together with Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli, Vannetti played a role in the brand’s transformation during his three-and-a-half years at Valentino, when pink became the colour du jour. In addition, Vannetti has held executive positions in publicity and communications at Prada and Zegna, two further high-end brands.
Vannetti will take over as the team leader of Gucci’s brand and client engagement team on September 4 and be in charge of “the company’s strategic brand and image direction, marketing, communications, metaverse, and client engagement efforts.”
He will be reporting to Gucci’s CEO Jean-François Palus for a transitional period. Palus said that Vannetti’s “extensive experience across prominent fashion brands, combined with his deep understanding of Gucci’s legacy, makes him the right choice to steer our brand forward.”
