Gucci has appointed Gianluca de Ficchy, a former senior executive at Renault SA, as its new chief financial officer, the fashion house confirmed. He will assume the role on 1st December and report directly to Gucci’s president and chief executive, Francesca Bellettini, the company said in a statement.
The appointment comes as Kering’s new chief executive, Luca de Meo, moves to stabilise the struggling luxury group. Gucci, which generates more than half of Kering’s profits, has faced mounting pressure to reignite growth. De Meo — formerly the CEO of Renault — took the helm at Kering in September with a mandate to engineer a turnaround.
De Ficchy previously served as CEO of Renault’s Mobilize mobility division, which encompasses auto financing, car-sharing services and electric-vehicle charging infrastructure. He left the French carmaker in October.
His arrival at Gucci follows the departure of Alberto Valente, who had served as chief financial, data and operations officer until September. Valente spent nearly 17 years at the brand, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Kering has also strengthened its leadership ranks with another Renault alumna, hiring Philippine de Schonen — previously head of M&A and investor relations at the automaker — to lead its own investor relations team.
