Zalando, the renowned German e-tailer, has distinctly outlined its plans to shun mulesed wool.
The fashion e-tailer has, reportedly, signed Four Paws’ Brand Letter of Intent, wherein it is committed to embracing 100 per cent certified mulesing-free wool – and all this within their own brands by 2023.
Thus, Zalando now joins 45 other reputed fashion brands that include the likes of adidas, Marks and Spencer, Hugo Boss, H&M, The North Face and Primark, who have also signed the letter.
It is worth stating here that mulesing is a process during which sheep and lambs are mutilated, and is presently practiced only in Australia.
In a statement, Rebecca Picallo Gil, Four Paws wool campaign founder, said that it was a huge success to get Zalando involved in the initiative which Four Paws has been campaigning for many years now.
Rebecca added that Australia should finally put an end to this practice and move towards adopting pain-free alternatives.
