Frasers Group is set to close its House of Fraser store in Maidstone, and transform it into a multi-brand flagship.
The 100,000-square-foot location at Fremlin Walk will close on 30th March and return in the autumn with Frasers, the group’s new department store model, together with Flannels and Sports Direct. Frasers Group began the Frasers idea in Wolverhampton back in 2021, and it has been gradually growing ever since.
Knight Frank partner for retail agency David Legat said, “Completing this flagship letting and bringing the three incredible brands of Frasers, Sports Direct and Flannels to Fremlin Walk secures the scheme as a retail-led destination long into the future.
“Fremlin Walk has now firmly cemented its position as the centre of Maidstone. We look forward to building on this success and announcing more exciting brands to our line up in the near future.”
Kerry Williams, portfolio director for M&G Real Estate, said, “We are delighted that Frasers Group has not only committed its long-term future to Fremlin Walk, but also selected Maidstone as a location for one of its new flagship concept stores.”
Frasers’ majority-stakeholder Mike Ashley has been an active investor in retail property of late and is understood to be eyeing an offer for Sheffield’s Meadowhall shopping centre.
