E-commerce major Flipkart has announced the appointment of Smita Ojha as Vice President of Engineering and Amit Sharma as Vice President of Programme Management, as it sharpens its focus on technology-led growth.
Ojha will lead the Central Platforms Group (CPG) within Flipkart’s OneTech organisation, the company’s unified product and technology division responsible for building and managing digital experiences across the platform. She joins from Mindtickle, where she served as Senior Vice President of Engineering, and brings over two decades of experience in platform engineering and technology leadership.
Sharma, meanwhile, will head the Technical Programme Management function for OneTech. A former Major in the Indian Army, he brings a blend of military and corporate leadership experience. During his service, he oversaw operations, training, and administration of an infantry battalion and led the elite Ghatak Platoon. With more than 25 years of corporate experience, Sharma has previously held senior roles at Amazon, Accenture, and WNS.
Commenting on the appointments, Balaji Thiagarajan, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Flipkart, stated that as the company entered its next phase of growth and accelerated its transition towards an AI-native operating model, strengthening leadership across technology and programme management remained a key priority. He added that Ojha and Sharma brought complementary strengths in platform engineering and large-scale execution, which would be instrumental in advancing the company’s innovation agenda and enabling scalable, future-ready capabilities.
The appointments come as Flipkart continues to invest in its technology backbone and leadership bench to support long-term growth and innovation in India’s highly competitive e-commerce sector.
