
India’s leading e-commerce company, Flipkart has set its sights on its fashion segment to boost sales, especially during the upcoming festive season. The e-retailer is currently focussing on its private labels to grow its market share in the online fashion sector.
It is important to mention here that, the home-grown e-retailer has recorded over 100 per cent success rate in terms of enhancing the portfolio of its exclusive brands. Last year, the number of exclusive brands were 20 which is now in line to reach 50.
The India-based company also launched three fresh exclusive fashion brands. The company is also expecting to cover 50 per cent of the overall Indian online fashion market’s gross merchandise value (GMV) during the upcoming five-day-long sale.
Reportedly, previous year’s sales fetched Flipkart’s exclusive fashion brands to account for 20 per cent of the total sales made on the platform. While this year, the numbers are expected to soar up to 40 to 60 per cent.
Rishi Vasudev, Fashion Head, Flipkart, marked out that the e-retailer’s Fashion segment is at present recording 60 to 70 per cent surge and if the company manages to keep up this rate, it is expected to reach 100 per cent in future.
According to a leading media house, Flipkart is set to launch its sixth private fashion brand, which will offer western outfits. However, the name of the brand has not been revealed yet by the e-retailer.
