Isn’t it surprising that despite being started by New Zealand entrepreneur Tim Brown, Allbirds has never had a store in New Zealand – though it’s always been available online.
But that’s changed now!
The US-based footwear brand has just opened its first store in New Zealand, which is a result of the firm having successfully raised US $ 76.7 million late last year to further its plans to expand to the UK and Asia.
The store is located in the Britomart precinct of Auckland. Spread over an area of 150 square metres, the store offers full range of Allbirds’products. Additionally, it houses limited edition of Auckland-inspired laces: Waiheke Island Teal, Light Path Magenta and West Coast Black Sand.
The highlight during the first week of the launch was the number of events organised by Allbirds, which included meditation sessions, drawing classes, among others.
Delighted over the launch of the store, Tim said “We always thought of opening a store in New Zealand. It is one of our founding markets. It is where I am from and our wool also comes from here.”
He, however, said it will be a big challenge to shift brand’s online experience into an offline one.
